Admissions

Students must demonstrate academic and developmental readiness, diligence in previous academic endeavors, and the potential to contribute to the community of scholars at Covenant Classical Christian School. Admission testing (K-SEALS and CCCS Admissions Testing) is required in addition to standardized test scores and a personal interview.

Faculty

All full-time Teachers are certified through ACCS. All teachers hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in their area of study. More than fifty percent of the faculty has earned graduate level or higher academic degrees.

Fine and Performing Arts

Students participate in annual choral performances, art exhibitions, violin instructions in Kindergarten, and extracurricular theatrical performances. Students have earned recognition SCISA State Best Actress, and Third Place Regional One Act Performance. All students receive instruction in art and choir from Kindergarten – 12th grade.

Rhetoric and Senior Thesis

All Students from 1st - 12th grade participate in the annual Speech Meet competition. Students memorize and present a selection of Bible, prose, poetry, or an historic speech lasting from 3-5 minutes. Students write and deliver formal orations to the entire school and local community as part of Rhetoric I and II. Students will research, prepare and work with a faculty advisor on a 15 page Senior Thesis research paper with Personal Interest, Cultural Relevance and Kingdom Importance. They must successfully defend their Senior Thesis as the capstone to Covenant’s academic requirements.

Curriculum

Classical Christian education designed to develop the skills for a lifetime of continued learning as disciple, scholar, and citizen. Students earn high school credit in 8th grade for Algebra, Latin, and Science. Students have the opportunity to take dual-enrollment and CLEP courses to earn college credit. Curriculum Distinctives: Formal Logic, Rhetoric I and II, Great Ideas of Western Civilization I and II, Bible Hermeneutics and Apologetics, Ancient History and Literature, Western Civilization I and II History and Literature, British and American Literature, Latin 3rd- 9th Grade, Biblical Greek, Conceptual Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II and PreCalculus. Most courses earning high school credit are at the honors level. All students continue learning art and music from K-12th grade.

Service Projects

Feed the Need – 10,000 Meals for Children in Haiti and Columbia, South Carolina, Bundle for Babies – Daybreak Pregnancy Resource Center Columbia, Sunshine on a Ranney Day – renovations for children with special needs, Fort Jackson National Cemetery – Veteran’s Day, Wreaths Across America, and Memorial Day, and Operation Christmas Child among a long list.

Students in 1st through 8th grades participate in the SAT10 or CLT annually. Covenant student scores are consistently well above the national average on all standardized tests from 2nd - 12th grades.

All course work is college preparatory unless denoted as honors or dual enrollment. Student’s grades for weighted GPA are calculated according to the South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale.

Athletics

The athletic program includes Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball, Varsity and Junior Varsity Cross-Country, Middle School Basketball, Club: Cross Country, and Soccer. CCCS students have participated and earned recognition at the State and Regional level for SCISA for Volleyball and Cross Country.
